honey I'm home and I had a hard day

not .....

I'm/we're home. We left Oahu at 9:15 pm and arrived in Houston at 9:47 am. I had forgotten my tylenol pm in the carry on, you can imagine what that was like, I almost cried.

I'm still on Hawaii time thinking it is 9am, but feeling like there is lead in my veins.

I am too tired for the full report, so I will give you the boring "this is what I did on my summer vacation" post tomorrow.

Between all the cameras there are about 400 pictures to sort through. Tomorrow.

I have to be at work at 8am, that is 3 am Hawaii time .... Hannah gets her tonsils out Tuesday at 1 pm. Snap back to reality, oops there goes gravity

3 Comments:

Amen! The good wishes have to pay off sooner than later! I'll keep you posted! Hope Hannah's surgery goes well.

don't go chasing waterfalls

Is a big fat lie!

Monday before our Hummer Tour we decided to check out the Maunawili waterfalls. It was a long hike, very long. Time was ticking and we headed back to catch our tour. I was determined to see a waterfall as it was my only must do Hawaii thing.

On the way back, I fell, twice. Then Scott fell, we were all laughing hard.

So this morning, Larry & I decided to hike back up again. The point we turned around at was literally five minutes away from the falls.

It wasn't exactly what I expected, but it was a waterfall. The water was freeeeezzzzzing! But I swam over and climbed on top and ....

JUMPED!

It was awesome. I'm already trying to figure out a way to buy a house here and rent it out.

Today is a totally free day, no plans at all. My tummy is feeling much better.

I so do NOT want to come home *pout*

what you've heard is true

It's gorgeous, it's beautiful, amazing.

Driving to the store is a sightseeing event.

I have lots to tell, and TONS of pictures. Tonight we are laying low. My tummy is in shambles. Too much good food too fast after slimfast and salad.

There are tons of vacation sayings already, "is that ka - pa - ah or ka- pa -ah - ah?"

Yesterday Kailua Rach movie Hummer Tour, today Pearl Harbor, tomorrow the beach and a sunset dinner cruise.

Miss you all!!!!

so long, farewell, ALOHA and goodbye

Continental was very nice and sent me an email to check into my flight tonight. So we did. We are checked in, our boarding passes printed and a free headset coupon to boot.

The bags are pretty much packed, Hannah is burning CDs and I am trying to think of which book to buy to read on the flight. Skymall gets boring after the third time.

Some good news, Ashley got a job. At Sonic, with Chanell. At least it is something.

Before you judge, you should read the entire blog, start from the beginning. You can't come in and understand the sequel unless you know the prequel.

So friends, in the text of STB, keep it moist, keep it moving ...

Aloha ~~

spinning

My head is spinning, and hurting. Prevacation kraziness. There is a huge storm coming. Humidity, it gets me everytime.

So, Tuesday after we get back, Hannah will have her tonsils out. I am nervous about that. Anytime you are under it makes me nervous.

My poor little Bella girl has three staples in her neck and a bottle of doggy antibiotics to go with it. We still don't know what happened to her, but she will be getting better soon.

My clothes are washed, but not packed. My nails are tipped in hot pink as well as my toes, Hannahs a very fluorescent green. Hannah in one chair, me in another, Stephanie watching, I couldn't stand that, Stephanie, pick out a color and get yours painted too.

120.00 for Bella the day before vacation. Thank gawd Sprint has pet insurance. Yes, I said pet insurance. Four bucks a month for my extended family, well worth it.

Larry should be on his way home soon. We are going to try and make a prevacation dinner with Marilee et all tonight. That's the thing about Marilee & I. Last time we got back from Florida, we all wanted mexican. So we trucked ourselves down to Guadalahara (the restaurant, not mexico LOL) and all ate dinner together. Her mom came to pick up little Ashley and said "WOW, you just spent 9 days together and you want more?" Thirteen years will do that to you, we love each other.

Jaded, I got so physched out. My phone rings, it's a NJ number, I got so excited, then I realized it was Marilee calling from Scott's phone!! It was funny to me :)

Well kiddies, I may get one more in before tomorrow, if not, be well, be loved and know you will be missed!

1 Comments:

I actually thought about calling but then I realized how busy you must be, so I didn't. Didn't wanna break the pre-vacation packing routine. I'm so excited for you!!

And I'm excited that we can meet in NY in March!! YAY!!!

well, I am officially

ON VACATION!!!!!

The last two days at work have been GREAT. I had one on ones with my three new girls, gave them a quiz, validated their knowledge and feel good about it. Jeff did too. It was exactly what he wanted me to do.

Yesterday we did TWENTY activations, today another TWENTY! 10 business lines included. It is freaking awesome. I told Jeff as I left, "OK, it is officially up to you to bring us to 100% to quota, I'm gone the rest of the month!"

That feels good, see you next month! Next month, August, one of my favorite months. Why you ask? Well, I will tell you!

School starts
Hannah's birthday
and umm, a little thing I like to call FOOTBALL!! (STB, if you are nice, you may be able to join me in watching the cute butts ;)

I went to JC Pennys tonight to pick up a couple of shorts. I have lost 10 pounds on my slimfast/salad/no dr pepper/treadmill diet. Everyone at work has been soooooo supportive, telling me how good I look while eating their double stuffed oreos, bastards!

So I've got the vacation high going. I called Marilee on my way home, she answered squealing! We can not believe we are actually going to Hawaii!!! We've talked about it for years, now we are finally going!

Tomorrow will be crazed, to say the very least --
10 am, Hannah, ear nose & throat doctor. Hopefully her tonsils will be OK, if not, they come out when we get back.
Find out what Vet is on my pet insurance, take Bella. Somehow she has cut her neck, she will need stitches. The dog is a canine barometer. She does not like thunderstorms or fireworks. From what we can tell, she tried to crawl/dig under the back part of the run and got caught on something. Poor baby, I don't want to leave her sick :(
Meet Marilee at Sams, get food to take on trip (cereal, lunch meat, etc) I heard a loaf of bread was 4 bucks, we are trying to save!
Get mani's & pedi's
Go back to work to get sisters phone I forgot today.
Come home, laundry, pack ..... and sleep -- yeah right, that will happen.

I will probably have one last blog then I'm out until July 31st! Don't miss me too much ;)

4 Comments:

YOU'VE got a lot on today Ms. Kimmy! I find that's a good thing actually because it just speeds things up! YOu are going to have a ball. We'll discuss in detail when you return.

forced conversation

I have not spoken to Ashley really since our last confrontation. You know, the one where she came home, got in my face and said this is why she doesn't like coming home? yeah, that one.

Last Wednesday, before my latest eight days in a row started, it was raining and I had decided to take a nap. After two hours of slumber, I hear the ding dong chime that happens whenever a door or window is opened. Now, since my sister & Larry were at work, and Hannah at Canyon Lake, it woke me up.

I come out of the room to investigate. Ashley's light is on. I don't see her anywhere. Then, she comes downstairs.

What are you doing here?
I needed some tampons.
Insert eye roll here as she only comes home when she wants/needs something.
When are you leaving?
Autumn will be here the whole time
I know. I will be home either Friday or Monday, depending on my ride.
And??
I'm going to work with my recruiter today
And, again??

Now, her whole "reason" for not wanting to go in early is because she was going to work with her recruiter, Wednesday was the first time she did.

So, when are you leaving?
Why?
Because I want to be here when you leave
Why?
No answer, just the door behind her.

She didn't come home and it suits me fine. She calls Larry about once a week to "check in" This is causing a problem. For me. As long as he acts like nothing is wrong and indulges her without making her deal with the issues, it only enforces me as the bad guy. Truth is, I probably am, but at this point, I really don't fucking care.

On his last conversation with her he asks where she is going to live when Chanell moves back to Mass. Home she says, you need to rethink that he tells her. You have some fixing to do.

She comes to the house when no one is here, that I am tired of. I have no idea what she is taking from the house. She stated that she wanted to take her books and sell them for money. The thought of getting a job hasn't crossed her mind. Her excuse would probably be "I don't have a car" Yet she seems to get around to the bars and clubs just fine. Even Chanell got a job at the sonic they are building, and she is about to move.

So, today, she came by again. To drop off movies she had taken from the house, she brings Chanell with her. This pisses me off to no end. I tell Larry, you better call her.
And tell her what?
Tell her not to bring anyone over here or take anything while we are not here.

He doesn't reply, he never does. Fine, I will call her.

I call Chanell, she always tenatively answers the phone.
Hello?
Is Ashley there with you?
Yeah, hang on.
Hello
Hey
What?
Do not come over here while we are not here, do you understand?
yeah (not really caring)
And, do not bring anyone over here while we are not here
OK
OK?
I said yes.
I want to make it clear to you .....

It's never clear, she doesn't give a shit.

It still makes me mad, but I am so done it's not even funny. I try to think when was the last time she did something she was supposed too? When was the last time she stole? When was the last time she lied? How much shit do you have to take and swallow before it's finally over?

This is not going to be good. She is driving a wedge between Larry & I again. I am his wife, she his daughter.

Who is sleeping under his roof tonight?

1 Comments:

OY. I can only hope you and Larry are able to reach a resolve about this prior to going away. I fear if you don't there will be a lot of tears upon your return. That said, I of course wish you the best and hope you three have a delightful vacation.

So cool! I always think sunsets like that can only happen behind lakes or mountains, and that you have to travel to see them, but it's so not true! "ups" update

The Mr Corporate from UPS called earlier this week.

Bobby got a written warning, pulled off our route and will not be back to our store, ever.

Robert, our regular guy finally got back from vacation. When he walked in and saw me, he started laughing. I asked him, so I guess you heard? Yeah, he did. The guy is a jerk, even Robert agreed. Said he got more than a slap on the wrist.

I'm glad Robert is back. We all love him.

7 almost down, 1 to go

Today is day seven, this stretch is not nearly as bad as last. One, I don't have to directly deal with the customers.

Two, I don't have a freshly broken rib.

Three is how many more days before we leave!

Tomorrow I open, off at six then gone for 11 days. I can't wait.

There is no internet in the house we are renting, I will be having blog withdrawal. I may have to sneak Larry's treo and read some :)

I go to Hawaii and the Sunday after we get back preseason starts. It don't get much better than that!

i love

watching my team win, with the twins.
I love, quarterbacks eatin' dirt, pom poms and short skirts, and those TWINS!
And I LOVE YOU TOO! HERE'S TO FOOTBALL

Have I mentioned I love Football?

I'm talking season ticket, tailgating, rushing home to watch the 3:00 game, Sunday night ESPN Game, Sportscenter, Monday Night football, LOVE IT! I mean fucking love it.

When the Spoilers left for Tennessee, I never watched a game. When we got the Texans, I was skeptical, the first year I watched a few games, still burned from that fucker took the spoilers. We went to one game against the Giants, and we won. I was hooked.

Year two, we had season tickets. Loved them. Year three we had season tickets. This guy last year said he would sell them to us every year. When I emailed him earlier this year, he broke my heart and said he was selling them game by game.

I emailed him last week, begging and sort of pleading for him to reconsider. He already had.

He put together a two year package including playoffs (if we get there *fingers crossed*) at the end of the second year, we will be able to buy the PSL (permanent seat license) OH MY GAWD!

What does this mean you ask? It means we have season tickets this year, season tickets next year, and then our very own PSL. This means the tickets are ours, every year that we want them. We can go ourselves or sell them game by game OR for the whole year.

The people around us are awesome. There is no one behind us. We are on the end of the aisle. And they are in the S-H-A-D-E!!

I'm in football freaking heaven .....

3 Comments:

But... but do you love football?

I could take it or leave it, personally. Mr. Jaded does the whole fantasy football league, so we always have football parties, and head out to watch games at sports bars. I like the social aspect of it. I just usually cheer for the team with the prettiest uniform. Last year I was more than 90% accurate judging by fashion alone. Mr. Jaded is a life-long Patriot's fan because he's from Massachusetts. We live in Eagles territory, and Eagles fans scare me, lol.

welcome to the show, grab a bat and start swinging!

When I started the assistants position, Jeff told me my sole responsibility would be to train the new girls. Ha ha ha. Since I took the job July 1st, I have since done, learned and been through the following --

A full audit by our business process analyst
A full inventory
Adjusted three phones out of inventory (and three security incident reports to accompany)
Adjusted one phone back into inventory (and another security incident report to accompany that)
An assistant managers meeting

The following were just today --
A business in retail conference call
An email from the district manager followed by a phone call. Pick two people from your store to be "Ambassadors" for the Nextel merger. They will go to their stores, one will come to ours. Have meeting with the only four employees that are eligible, make the excel spreadsheet and mail back to him.
Get an extra dumpster for our store "refresh"
Go over the "refresh" details with Clint, make sure the store and tech's are ready.
Order new Sprint/Nextell brand uniforms for every employee.
Try to get alarm test results from the security company.

Jeff stops by in the middle, "Do you feel like an assistant manager?"

And then some .......

I love my new position, I work best under pressure. I am going to rock the job, give me the bat, I'm goin' for a homer ......

the opposite of "ups"

Monday, I am the opening manager, it's Monday. I have already missed a conference call. Sprint is redoing the stores, new displays, touch screen monitors, very high tech. There are huge boxes in the back office. There is a staples delivery.

Then there comes the UPS guy. Not our regular one, he is on vacation, this is some other guy, he comes barreling through the door ----

Hold on, you can't get that through here, he pushes on, I put my foot on his cart, HOLD ON! Let me move these boxes. I move the boxes and the giant attitude delivery man pushes on through to the tech room, where he proceeds, to throw the boxes off the cart, one of which was Mandy's projector she had won in the Sanyo contest.

I look at my tech, he looks at me. Mr. UPS goes back for round two. "Dana, make sure you get his name" "yeah" Dana replies. Now, Dana is the calmest, easiest going person you would ever meet, ever. He is the gentle voice of calm in our little crazy dysfunction world. When he says 'yeah' the guy must have been a prick.

Bobby, that's his name. Dan, my Mr. Random Comment tells me he was mad because we voided the warranty on his phone. He stormed in earlier (while he was on duty) threw his phone at our host and demanded it be fixed. Our host politely gave him to Dan, Dan skipped all the other people waiting and took his phone to Dana.

Water Damage. Not just the pink litmus paper wet, but full blown corrosion in the port and battery. (they are copper and turn the prettiest color of green just like the buildings in New York) Dan tells him the warranty is void, he storms out. Throwing our boxes was payback.

I call Mandy and ask if I should send an email, absolutely she says, not just because he threw her projector, because he was wrong.

I send the email to one of our operations people, they forward it to another, they forward it and before I know it, I have a copied email from the Vice President of Shipping and Receiving in Kansas City (our world headquarters) to his corporate counterpart at UPS. Two seconds after I read the email, there is a call on my phone, it's a Kansas number, I know it's Joe.

Is this Kim?
Yes.
Kimberly (insert last name here)
Yes?
This is Joe (his last name here)
Hello.

He proceeds to ask questions about the incident. Now, the title of the last email was UPS Incident (UNACCEPTABLE!) I tell him again how it played out, in his email he wanted a copy of UPS' corrective action. He said that at first he wanted the guy fired, but then he had some water and cooled down.

I was shocked, I mean, yeah, the guy was a dick, but fired?! I just didn't want him back in the store. He says he promises to follow up.

I go about the rest of my krazy day, and as I am walking into the house, my phone rings again (it rings all the time, I work for Sprint you know) It is the corporate counterpart from UPS. Ms. Kimberly? Yes? This is Mr. UPS. He apologizes profusely and promises it will be dealt with.

The driver didn't come back on Tuesday, or today. However, Mr. UPS did call back today. The driver was put on a written warning, it's in his permanent record (da da daaaaa, my attempt at cliffhanging music)

I feel kinda of bad ..... But the guy was a prick, he threw our phones out of spite, and that's just wrong .....

3 Comments:

What else could you have done? You'd have been remiss not to advise UPS that their personal representative was behaving in a totally inappropriate way. Thank you for taking the time and the energy and doing what was the right thing to do.

Know it will be a long 8 days, now 7 no? But soon you'll be out of soggy Houston..how's the rain been where you are?......and you'll be in Hawaii! Cool!

By Blogger sttropezbutler, at 5:41 AM

If you'd done that to a customer, threw his phone at him, you'd have been fired. Don't feel bad about expecting the man to do what he is paid to do. If he didn't want to get in trouble, he should have done his job the way he was supposed to, without attitude. Period. You did the right thing.

five hugs

With Rosie and a lot of the bloggers I read out cruising, it reminded me of the first time Larry & went out on a cruise. Carnival leaves out of Galveston which is about an hour away from us and if you go in October (end of hurricane season) the rates are really reasonable!

We went with Larry's parents (before his Mom died), their two friends and his older brother and his wife. My sister drove us down.

When we were getting out of the car, hugging the girls goodbye, Ashley gave a nonchalant hug while Hannah said I have to have five hugs. When we inquired why she needed five hugs, she replied, you will be gone for five days, so I need a hug for each day.

We went back on the cruise two years later, took the girls and my sister that time, along with almost everyone from Larry's family. It was the first year after his mom died and it was good for his dad to get out. We had an even better time that outing.

If you get the chance to go on one, do it. I want to go again, but have a long list of other places to go before we return to cruising.

Australia
France
Italy
Ireland
Hong Kong
Japan
Germany
and Russia

One year and one continent at a time.

The good thing about Larry & I starting out so young with the family, is that we will be equally young when they are all growed up and out of the house. This will provide ample time, not to mention money to check the list off.

If you have been to any places on my list, please comment on your favorite thing about them.

Still not sold on the cruise idea, but that's just me....I've been to a few places on your list, but I'd adda China and India and maybe avoid Germany...lol...I spent 10 years flying to UK and and back...the thought of that 10 hour flight...hummm...but like you said...you have time ahead!

peeling the banana

My Hannah banana is sick. She has been fighting a throat infection almost all summer. This morning, back to her pediatrician (who I absolutely adore and cherish). One more round of antibiotics, 10 days worth, go see an ear nose & throat before we leave for Hawaii. Her tonsils will probably be taken out when we get back.

When she was a baby, she had horrible ear infections. No dairy didn't work, antibiotics didn't work. Finally, they put tubes in her ears. Three weeks later they were out, the pressure built up pushed them out, we had to do it again. The took her adnoids out, but not the tonsils.

Now here we are 12 years later still fighting ear infections and the tonsils will finally come out. She always catches whatever is out there, she gets a lot sicker than Ashley. However, when Ashley gets sick, she gets sick One time Ashley got strep throat with scarlet fever. Her fever got as high as 104, straight to the cold bathtub, watching her shiver in pain and from the cold was excruciating.

I don't like my babies being sick. I don't like the thought of my banana in an operating room. I do wish we could get it done before vacation, but Dr said better to wait just in case there is a flare up while we are gone. Problem is, we get home 10 days before school starts, either way it sucks, which she is doing a lot of because she can't open her mouth very wide to eat. Poor baby, I feel so sorry for her.

Larry has been in Mexico since Monday. He will be home tonight. I don't sleep well when he is gone, I left the TV in our room on all night watching Contact to have the noise.

We still haven't heard anything from Ashley. She did call last night for Hannah. My sis answered the phone --

Hello?
Is Hannah there?
No, can I take a message?
It's me!
Me WHO?
ASHLEY!

She didn't call back.

I have the day off, then guess what? Another eight days in a row. This time, a major light at the end of the tunnel. Hawaii! My vacation days are coupled with my off days to maximize time and use as little vacation time as possible, hence the eight days in a row.

I went to my first Assistant Managers meeting yesterday, I have a lot to learn. My trainees are doing well. One has it, she's got it. She's just not quite "in the house" What I mean by that is I am not sure if she actually wants this job. She has all the knowledge, but I don't feel I have her commitment yet. The other one is taking a little more effort. I have her commitment, but she looks like a deer in headlights when she is dealing with the customers.

It's ironic, my timid one is married to the loudest, craziest man. He is one of my customers and I have known him for about a year and a half. That's how we came to learn about M, and she came to work for us. We shall see ......

My poor little banana, not all bright and yellow, but brown and peeling ......

Nothing worse than being sick...I hate it. Kim, if we don't have a chance to speak prior to your departure, we will certainly do so when you return. You've got a lot on the plate...so as I always say...just keep it moist and keep it moving and you'll be on the beach in Hawaii in no time!

every woman's worst nightmare

The dreaded lights, all those mirrors and the worst of all, the bathing suits.

I have lots, some are tighter than others, some I will only wear in the comfort of my own back yard, some I can wear on the boat, some I can't wear at all.

Tonight after work, Larry & I go to Kohl's. It's time for a new one for vacation, one I can wear in front of strangers.

60% off, not a bad deal, mix and match, pink stripes, push ups, booty bottoms, bikini bottoms, they all suck.

I did manage to find two.

But that's not the best part, I found the coolest pair of shades. I love, love, love the bigger style that is out now, not the big white ones like Paris was wearing, but the bigger sexy ones. I love my new glasses.

It was Jeffs birthday today. I brought him a cake and some new floats for his pool. He and his family may join us tomorrow on the lake. We are going with Stephanies family, they have jet skii's. We used to have skii's but we sold them for the boat. Hopefully, when the Tahoe is paid off we can buy one, just one this time.

An 800 number from the Navy keeps calling, we are never home, they don't leave a message, I sent a text message to Chanell's phone, tell her they are calling, that is the extent I will communicate with her at this point.

I will try out on of my new nightmares and my super cool sunglasses.

Can anyone not hear the music, or is it just me?

2 Comments:

No music!

Ah yes, the old bathing costume problem. I had about 12 different swim suits in ST, but left them all there as I felt I wouldn't really need such an assortment in Houston! C'est la vie!

By Blogger sttropezbutler, at 7:41 AM

No music here either.

When do you leave for vacation? How long will you be gone? I'm so jealous!!

As for bathing suits, well... having always been a fat girl, I know that no suit is going to hide that fact. I just buy the least offensive one and stick to places where I know people...Like my parents' pool.

love london

It sucks, it's sad. My sister went twice for work a few years ago, has a lot of friends there from work. They are all OK.

It still shocks me, which I feel is good. If it didn't, I would be scared, that would mean that is routine, which it isn't.

As we were driving today, Hannah asks what is going on (I have satillite radio and it is on Fox News all the time) As I am telling her she asks me, "when will the terrorist stop? When the war is over?" This is what she thinks, she lives in an age where she worries about a plane trip. I can not believe we live in America and in London, this is not supposed to happen here.

On the way to dinner tonight (I considered it a free day since I so didn't do the normal slimfast and chicken salad) Larry & I got into a heated debate, as we always do about politics. We think very differently about certain issues. It pisses me off when he gets on a rant, he didn't even vote last election.

The thunderstorms came, literally, the wind, the clouds, the lightening and finally RAIN! There are two chairs in the pool, I had to lower the puppies umbrella, check out the wild pics ... and god bless london .....

2 Comments:

The rain came here as well. Not much, but it was a nice change. This a.m., there was a chill albeit a very slight chill in the air. In July. Imagine that. All to say that it does go on. The sun was up (behind the clouds), the birds were singing, the regulars were running and walking. I grew up "worrying" about Russia and the BOMB. Perhaps worrying about "terrorism" is no different. I don't really know. Congrats to your pal who's avec baby! That's cool. Life affirming.

You know, it rained here in SD too on Thursday. A nice heavy raint that popped out of nowhere. I told my wife that it was God crying for the loss of all of those people..crying for the voilence, crying for peace. Somehow, that always makes me feel a little bit better about those things...makes you feel good to know that even in the bad times, He is always watching.

expectations

I arrived late to lunch, as usual, Corie was waiting, when I walked in, I apologized, the train, that stupid train that I always seem to get stuck by.

We get to our table, sit down, the first thing I ask her "Are you pregnant?" She laughs, "not yet" her reply. Last time I checked in, her hubby didn't want another one. He has since changed his mind and they have been trying for 2 months.

The lunch goes well, I am in the middle of retelling the high drama that has been going on over the past four months. In the middle of a sentence I hear "Kim!" I turn around and it is my former district manager, who I adore, who just left Sprint for Verizon. I jump up and hug him. We say hellos, he is sitting at our table.

Now for the freaky part. New Years Eve, at the very same restaurant, I hear a couple talking at our table. They have Sprint phones (I always notice phones) The very cute guy says "Did you her Ken P stepped down?" I but into the conversation, "Excuse me, did you just say Ken P?, Do you work for Sprint?" They used too, both of them in College Station. New Years Ken stepped down from District Manager to just a store Manager stating he wanted more time with his family. I am sure there were more dynamics than that, there always are.

Now, there was Ken, at the same pace, ironic.

Corie and I spend 2 hours over lunch. Catching up, laughing, looking at pics in our camera phones (she has Sprint, too) It was great.

Five minutes ago my phone rings .. "Brass Monkey, that funky monkey" ... That's Cories ringer. She's pregnant. How wonderful and also ironic is that? She says, "I have to get a book and write that down" Looks like I get to be there for her next baby as well.

That's all great news!

Thanks for the comment earlier. Sucks that we have to be that sort of kindred spirit, but it's always comforting to know that there are people who understand.

I just got a new cell phone. Don't shoot me...it's not sprint (t-mobile)

the lunch date

This morning, I have an appointment with Dr. Iwillpullyourteeth for cleaning and filling.

Then, I have a lunch date with Corie. I finally left her a message, told her I would call her today, she sent me a text message saying she was off today as well, I texted her back asking if she wanted to meet at HB, she agreed.

I haven't seen or talked to her since Easter.

I hate the dentist. Hate hate hate going.

I hope your lunch goes well. Just give her a big hug and let her know you love her.

By Blogger Jaded, at 9:35 AM

It wouldn't be any fun if you agreed with everything now would it? I feel bad for Hannah and all children. This is the world they now live in. This will be the world they know, as I fear this is what the world is now all about. Sad indeed.

various

Our neighbors in the CUL-de-sac decided to have a block party. Hotdogs, hamburgers, kabobs and fireworks.

We headed down after spending some quiet time in the pool. During the festivities, the co sponsor of the event pointed out that the invitations came from Leah & Trish. A Scottish and a Canadian. NO AMERICANS! We laughed, but something rang true. We take our freedom for granted.

Ashley was home over the weekend to do her laundry. She left sometime Monday, we didn't speak the whole time she was here, and it is better that way. She and Hannah were planning to go to a movie Saturday night with one of Ashley's ex boyfriends, who now likes Hannah. That is a blog entry in it's own. The plans then changed because Ashley wanted to go to a pool hall. Ummm, no. You are not taking Hannah to a pool hall. So Hannah tells me they have just decided to go a movie.

I tell Hannah no, I don't trust Ashley and I really don't want you hanging out with her. Ashley comes out of her room, hands Hannah the phone and says she is not going, she doesn't want to ruin her night.

Hannah tells me over the course of the weekend that she has started talking to her and believes her now. When Ashley is gone, Hannah wants her gone, Hannah wants her to leave, she doesn't want her here because of the stress she brings. Ashley comes home to no yellow ribbons and manipulates Hannah, Hannah likes her again. This is a never ending cycle.

She tells Larry she is going to some place then back over to Chanells, goodbye, see you when your clean clothes run out and you want to try and get us to take you to Outback for dinner.

She asked when we were leaving for Hawaii.
Why?
Because I don't know when you are leaving.
You are NOT having anyone over here, and I'd really rather you not be here either.
I know was her response, nothing more.

I feel about 1% bad for not taking her. The plans for vacation were made while she was living outside the house, never calling and not telling us where she was. They were also made because the intent for her going into the Navy was supposed to be June. I halfway think she thinks we will pull out a ticket for her, but we aren't. I'm sure she feels slighted and will hold this against us, as she always does. Nothing is ever good enough for her. Getting a job to support herself hasn't even crossed her mind.

I want her gone, in the Navy, NOW. I don't want her coming back here, she is a vacuum that sucks every bit of air out. I get tense, anticipating what is coming next. Larry & I fight, Hannah fights with us. This never happens when she is not here.

This was triggered last weekend when she strolled in, pupils pinned, licking lips. She was on something, or had been drinking something. She goes out drinking all the time. Pays no attention to her liver. Does not believe me when I tell her if she goes in with a bad liver they will send her home. She storms off saying "This is why I don't like coming home"
I retort, You don't like coming home because you don't want to be held accountable for ANYTHING!

More yelling and screaming, bows up to my face, if Larry had been inside he would have knocked her to the ground, she won't act like that around him, she knows better. I state you only come home to do your laundry, she relies I come home on the weekends because that's when y'all are home.
BULLSHIT
When you do come home the only conversation you have with us is what we are going to eat. You stay on the phone and the computer the whole time. The sad thing is, Larry laps this what little presence it is up.

I ignore her for the rest of the day. We are trying to decide what to do for dinner, she suggest Outback. Nope, not going to take you to Outback. Larry & I settle in and eat some leftovers. When she realized we weren't going to take her out, she calls and gets a ride.

I tell Larry I don't want her back, I'm sick of the stress she brings, she can stay out until she leaves. Larry must have called her because she showed up at my store with a card and stuffed bear. Nice try, but too late. I still didn't talk to her the rest of the week (not that ever hear from her anyway) I come home Saturday night, ask Larry if he has heard from her.
I'm here, Hi she yells, ..... from the computer.

I shake my head. I'm done, the three years of lies, drugs, stealing, failing, cutting, hitting and hatred directed towards me have finally caught up.

You have made the choice.
The hard part is sticking with it.
Good luck.
And tell me to butt out if you don't want comments such as these!

She has to learn that there are consequences for her actions. The fact that you love your daughter doesn't also come with the obligation to put up with her abuse. You can love her just as much from across town as you can in your own house. Or in this case, maybe more.

Don't let Hannah go down in flames with Ashley. Don't let all of you go down in flames with her. That's a lesson she needs to learn all by her little ol' self. They call it tough love for a reason. It wouldn't be tough if you didn't love her.

there's always fireworks

There is Ashley drama again, I really don't care to go into it at this point. Looks like she will be here until September. Since her graduation status was not solid, she missed the chance to go in early. I half way think she did it on purpose. Chanell will be moving back to Mass. soon, that means she will be here more.

Deep breaths

I always told her one day she will want to come home and there wouldn't be anything left, seems that day for me has arrived. I don't have anything left for her. Not that she wants anything from me, she doesn't, hasn't in a long time.

She will read this at some point, nothing new, is it Ashley? Same shit, different day, right?

Im so sorry, i thought things would go better for you guys after graduation...

By Blogger A, at 10:17 AM

At some point, she will realize that 18 year olds really know nothing, even though they think they've got it all figured out. I think I was about 25 when I realized that. She'll regret her actions, but it will be too late... and she'll have no one to blame but herself. It will be a bitter pill to swallow. But you can know that you did everything you could, and then some. Now it's time for her to grow up and you can't do it for her.

Take care of yourself, Kimmy...and of Hannah and Larry. Be there for Ashley if she needs you, but don't absolve her of the responsibility of making her own choices.

By Blogger Jaded, at 10:59 AM

Kimmy-

I love the music! How'd you do that?

Oh, boy. I was wondering if that had happened, since the first date was June, right? Well. . .September is only two months away, and who knows, maybe these two months will strengthen your relationship, especially if Chanell is moving and Ashley will be spending more time with you. I'm trying to offer some hope, anyway. She's an adult now, so you have a new chance at a new kind of relationship. I hope the two of you find something that works, at least well enough to have peace in your lives while you coexist.

the end of june ...... kimmy style

The end of June has sucked, for the last three years, in a row.

Year before last, at the end of June, I had an emergency appendectomy.

Last year, at the end of June, Ashley was in the hospital for 4 days with hepatitis a.

This year, at the end of June, Larry thought he was having a heart attack.

He woke me up about 6 asking me what time I had to be at work.
Why? I murmur, as I had only gotten to sleep about 4 hours earlier.
I'm going to the emergency room, this pain in my chest is not going away.

HOLY SHIT! He's 40, most men have heart attacks in the first 3 hours after they wake. Holy shit, He's going to the emergency room, he said I am going. Like hell you are going, we are going.

I throw clothes on and we are off. There is nobody there, lucky for us (when I broke my rib we were there for four hours) We get right in, ekg, pulse ox, heart monitor, eight vials of blood. Nitrates negative, heart attack would have been positive. They call a cardiologist just to be sure. He comes, looks things over, get a CT scan just to make sure no clots. No clots, CT is clear. In the midst of all of this, Larry says to me, "I will get the extra life insurance" Last month I began telling him he/we needed more than what work would/is giving through them. They say you take your income and times that by five, that is how much you need. That is a LOT more than what work gives.

It scared me. My whole life is in this man. I have not a clue, nor do I want to even imagine my life without him. He is my best friend of 20 years, since I was sixteen.

Everything checked out OK. They gave him a prescription for Nexium, the purple pill. Seems severe acid reflux will mask heart attacks. He will still have the stress test Wednesday, just in case.

It was not how I imagined my first day as an assistant. I finally made it into work about 2, promptly began training one of the newbies. She did very well, she even got an activation and about 200 bucks worth of accessories.

The cardiologist had a sprint phone. I joked with Larry I would look his number up, would be good to have the direct line to a cardiologist, just in case you have heartburn again ...... chuckling because I can laugh now

6 Comments:

Good News. I had an email from a friend the other day telling me that as we get older it is all about dodging the bullets. Well, the four of you just have to keep dodging! Glad Larry is okay.

By Blogger sttropezbutler, at 3:19 AM

Glad that Larry's ok. Same thing happened to me 3 months ago... turned out to be esophageal spasms. Make sure Larry goes to see a GI doctor just to make sure. And get him Gaviscon (the cherry flavored tablets aren't as disgusting as the liquid, which is horrible) It really helps, especially at night. It's just an over the counter med that is similar to Tums, but it creates a barrier in there to help keep the reflux to a minimum. You can use it in addition to Nexium. (I take Protonix which works better for me than Nexium) Doc told me that the pain from the spasms is the same as a heart attack, so no matter what, go to the ER.

I'm still going to see a cardiologist on Wednesday, just in case, since the first one I went to is an ass. Get him to a GI doctor! Reflux can cause its own problems...make sure he gets it properly diagnosed, treated and monitored!!!

By Blogger Jaded, at 9:08 AM

How frightening! Better make sure nobody sets off any fireworks behind Larry this weekend, just in case!

By Blogger Suzi, at 12:28 PM

I know how scarey the whole "heart" thing can be. I have been there with my husband also. Glad everything turned out ok. Take a deep breath and relax....July can only get better. :)

Okay, slow on the uptake here. I lived with a man for 10 years, George Guim, who was one of Jane's first boasters in the US. George worked for Warner Music and was her publisher and friend. She's an amazing artist. I was listening to her CD the other day! Don't know why it took me till today to make this connection!
