expectations
I arrived late to lunch, as usual, Corie was waiting, when I walked in, I apologized, the train, that stupid train that I always seem to get stuck by.
We get to our table, sit down, the first thing I ask her "Are you pregnant?" She laughs, "not yet" her reply. Last time I checked in, her hubby didn't want another one. He has since changed his mind and they have been trying for 2 months.
The lunch goes well, I am in the middle of retelling the high drama that has been going on over the past four months. In the middle of a sentence I hear "Kim!" I turn around and it is my former district manager, who I adore, who just left Sprint for Verizon. I jump up and hug him. We say hellos, he is sitting at our table.
Now for the freaky part. New Years Eve, at the very same restaurant, I hear a couple talking at our table. They have Sprint phones (I always notice phones) The very cute guy says "Did you her Ken P stepped down?" I but into the conversation, "Excuse me, did you just say Ken P?, Do you work for Sprint?" They used too, both of them in College Station. New Years Ken stepped down from District Manager to just a store Manager stating he wanted more time with his family. I am sure there were more dynamics than that, there always are.
Now, there was Ken, at the same pace, ironic.
Corie and I spend 2 hours over lunch. Catching up, laughing, looking at pics in our camera phones (she has Sprint, too) It was great.
Five minutes ago my phone rings .. "Brass Monkey, that funky monkey" ... That's Cories ringer. She's pregnant. How wonderful and also ironic is that? She says, "I have to get a book and write that down" Looks like I get to be there for her next baby as well.
