did dorothy really say that?

Last night & today were packing and moving days. Yes, I am in a gorgeous house, with my sister.

And Hannah and Larry.

It really didn't make sense to me to pay over 400.00 for 2 weeks rent, then another 300 in two weeks. So, I moved in to the downstairs bedroom for two weeks.

When I proposed this to Larry, there was more than a pregnant pause.

Won't it be weird and uncomfortable?
Are you bringing girls back to the house to sleep with you?
No.
Then it won't be uncomfortable.

The only part that may be uneasy is I will be here on our would be twentieth anniversary. That may be a little weird.

Corie seems to have her heart set on us getting back together. I keep trying to tell her that is not going to happen. As much as I miss the "idea" of us (which is more than I miss the real "us") I have thoroughly enjoyed being me.

Going where I want, when I want. Without having to ask, or justify. There is a LOT to be said for that. I enjoy my own space, my own decorating, even my own food. These things may sound silly, but when you have spent the better half of twenty years justifying every single thing, believe me, a tuna sandwich or pancakes for dinner takes on a whole new meaning.

I start at the new store tomorrow, I really hope it doesn't suck!

Dorothy said there's no place like home, I'll let you know in two weeks when I move into my new one :)

i said a change (a change) would do you good

So Friday, during a routine chat with my district manager, he informed me that I would be transferring to another store effective May 1st.

SHUT UP! Can you say thank gawd?

The store is right by my old house (the one larry still lives in), and I think Autumn & I will be renting a house, in my neighborhood. A house. With a drive way!

I am so excited it isn't even funny. He said he knew H & I were not working well together, the other store is having the same issues, he refuses to swap managers again, so assistants will start. If there are problems (which they're are at my store) they will out. So, changes -- they are a good thing.

We had a great time last night at the club. Corie & I, our good friend Randy, his wife & her friends, some Ne*tel managers, former S*rint employees, and about 300 other people.

Randy drove us home (back to Corie's) and Dwayne had the couch all made up for me. He is a good pseudo husband. I have been spending a lot of time with them lately. Corie is such a good friend. I am so lucky to have not one, but two best friends.

After lunch today, I decided to take Austin with me for the day. Corie is going back to work tomorrow and they are selling their house. So, some free time today (well, free minus baby abbey time) would do them good.

Austin wanted to "go to your house" meaning my old house. You know, the one Larry still lives in? So, we headed over that way, picked up Hannah and went to the pseudo water park in our neighborhood.

After a fun day filled with friends and family, I headed to work for tile replacement. Now I am settling in, quite beyond ready for bed.

I hate Mondays, even on Sunday nights.

another year

Happy birthday to my neice, Dejah.

I hate my job. No, let me rephrase, I hate my manager. Half of my staff is looking for another job, myself included.

I got offered the job in NY. I am looking for apartments and listening to Marilee & Corie tell me not to go LOL.

Corie & I are planning our Madonna trip. New tickets go on sale Saturday. We are going to try and get some face value ones before we spend all that cash on ebay.

My cough is starting to sound like somebody rattling bones around. I guess that's good, it's breaking up.

We are going out Saturday night, dancing, drinking all that jazz. I am looking forward to it. Too bad a certain north texas boy can't come ;)

Did I mention I hate my boss?

3 Comments:

Well, I'll beg you to come on over, just for balance! :)

Congratulations--even if you don't take it, it's nice to be asked to the dance, ain't it?

Hello. It's been a bit since I've been here. How exciting to be offered the job in NY. I hate my boss too. : ) Have fun with the dancing etc. I'm thinking of you. Peace.

Congrats. Are you gonna take the job?

Feel better. I'll call you Sunday or Monday...it's crazy around here!

Love you!!!

madge

So, what are you to do with vacation time in May, 400 bucks worth of travel vouchers and the girlfriend you haven't taken a trip with?

Take the vouchers and your girlfriend to Vegas during your vacation and see Madonna in concert at the MGM Grand.

Can I get a hell ya?

I've never been able to see her in concert. I was BIG and pregnant each time she came here. Now, she won't come anywhere near Texas. I think it's a Bush thing.

So, Corie and I are trying to get some ebay tix and make it happen. Keep your fingers crossed.

btw, I just bought this iron on transfer off of ebay

hungry like the wolf

Ever since we were at culture club, I have been stuck in the 80's. Big time.

I need to find a club like that here, big time.

I'm on my way and I'm making it, big time.

happy (?) anniversary

Helium Hello/KoK is one year old today. A year ago, I was on vacation, struggling to get Ashley graduated, allowing her back into the house and all the drama that came with it.

A year later, she has graduated, doing well in the Navy and I am out of the house. What a difference a year makes.

Jaded was the first comment ever, and I am proud to write she still does.

My throat feels like it is being sliced with razor blades. My nose is stopped up worse that 5:00 traffic. My ears are plugged tighter than the sink drain and my voice is well, almost gone.

I am sick :( I don't like to be sick. Someone make it go away .... now!!

the trip

in review ....

I got in very late Wednesday night, crawled into the hotel and slept. I didn't even hear Marilee getting ready and ended up sleeping until 11:30. I got ready and headed out into my town on my own. I knew right where I wanted to go first. H & M. I love this store. I think they are only in NY, LA & Chicago. They have great clothes at great prices. I took the sub to times square, sent a little time there then walked up to 34th, passed Macy's and into H & M.

I killed about a good two hours inside there alone. I knew Mar was to be home soon so I started heading back downtown to our hotel.

We met Liz (a girl from Mars NY office) for sushi & dinner. Liz is awesome, so funny and a doll. After dinner we walked back to the hotel and passed out. Friday I woke up earlier and headed down to Chinatown in search of purses. They are sooooo much cheaper there. As I said earlier, I was able to get two prada's and a coach for 50.00 bucks. I almost got some killer sunglasses but decided to pass.

After the purse adventure, I headed all the way up town to east 60th between 2nd & 3rd to my must have every trip to NY "Forbidden Broadway Sundae" from Serendipity. Now, the problem with Serendipity is since the movie came out, it is extremely hard to get a table. I/we have been going there way before the movie so I feel I have a little claim to it. I had my decadence then decided to walk it off heading further uptown to FAO Schwartz. I had never been in the NY store and it was quite an adventure. Very cool stuff.

I headed west and stopped inside of Tiffany's. Let me just say -- oh - my - gawd!! I have never been inside Tiffany's before and it is decadence you can wear. I have never seen such gorgeous diamonds. Made me feel extremely poor. I thought I would buy a keychain, just so I could get the little blue bag, but when the keychains cost more than my faux prada, I thought better of it.

I continued west passing St. Patricks and all the uber chic shops and back to times square. Caught the s shuttle to grand central and rushed up to the room to change for dinner with Nick (Marilees friend from NY office). I did a quick change and we headed down to little italy (which is getting 'littler' every time I go) for one of the best dinners I have had in NY. Everyone spoke italian, the food was phenomenal. It was very godfatherish.

After dinner he took us to Kennedy's irish pub. Where Shamus, our very irish waiter took excellent care of us. He didn't even blink when I asked for hot chocolate with baileys & jamesons. He just went and got it. I did get some interesting conversation with my neighbor bar stool. He thought it quite odd to come to a bar and order hot chocolate. When I explained to him I could drink many of these and still go home to sleep (something irish coffee does not allow) he seemed to agree.

We laughed and laughed at the bar. Well, let me rephrase. They laughed at me. I don't drink a whole lot, so when I start drinking whiskey, it hits me fast and hard. I was trying my best to recite a clip from Eddie Murphy's "Raw" (the part where he pulls a 'jedi' on Mr T) and could not get it out to save my life. Then when I did, we all laughed so hard. It was the phrase of the weekend. "I'm going to be so sick"
jedi "No you're not"
drunk "Maybe I'm not". Oh man, was it funny.

There were a few sites I wanted to find and see this trip that no one has ever wanted to do before. So, upon waking, Marilee & I headed out in the cold and rain. We headed up to times square to check the tkts line which was wrapped around the corner, so we decided to have pizza instead.

After lunch, we headed way uptown to the 70s and walked down to the Dakota building. It is a very odd feeling standing there. Directly across from the park and strawberry fields forever ....

We then headed way west up riverside drive to the "Will and Grace" awning. 155 riverside drive. We drooled over the homes. We both wanted to go to the village and find Carrie's apartment & street. We were both extremely addicted sex and the city freaks. The village and bleeker street is probably my favorite part of the city. From Houston (which they pronounce housetown, damn yankees) to christopher to bleeker. I love it. We visited a couple of .... novelty shops. Being single, not a good idea to go somewhere like that LOL. Since we were running out of time, we thought the novelty shop would suffice for the museum of sex. (we never made it there). I picked up some glow in the dark body glitter and some anatomically correct mints.

We headed over to locate the club, making sure it was still there and headed back to the hotel to get ready. In the subway between the s and grand central, we came across dvd central. I got five bootlegs for twenty bucks. Sixteen Blocks, Failure to Launch, Narnia, Ice Age II & Inside Man. Where else I ask you, where else? We got to the club about 11:30 and stayed until 4am. We danced our asses off and I drank my ass off. Tequila shots, bacardi o's, sex on the beach and more. I was quite, quite tipsy. Waiting for the car outside Marilee laughed at me several times. I woke up about nine with a pounding headache. I downed some excedrin and went back to bed.

We woke up about noon and had to start packing to come home. We called the car service that took us home earlier that morning. They said, Ms. C**** didn't we just drop you a few hours ago? Marilee found that quite funny. Yeah, and??

We got to the airport and discovered the flight was overbooked. Now, some travelers cringe at that term. Not me. I always volunteer for the vouchers. It was worth it. Four hundred bucks in vouchers and fly first class home. SHUT UP! I have never flown first class before, and now it is all I want to fly. Bread & butter, greek grilled chicken salad with corn chowder and cake. shut the eff up.

I got home late and promptly passed out. I had to be at work at 8am yesterday and 6am today. (inventory today to avoid easter sunday when we are closed) This morning I woke up with my throat feeling like a bomb went off in it with some razor blades thrown in for fun. It still feels that way. I couldn't get an appointment today so I am going first thing in the morning.

The entire trip we only took a cab with Nick to dinner and then after the club & to the airport. I'm telling you, I can make it there. I could. I will. One day.

.......... hey, I'm walkin' here!!! ...........

12 minutes after photo sunday

So I am home sweet home. I downloaded a couple of pictures (taken from my NEW digital camera I splurged on) for photo Sunday. The first one was actually taken Sunday, very early in the morning, before we (a hem, *I*) got really drunk. The second one is me, really drunk.

And Sergio, the hair dresser who is all of twenty five and has perfect green eyes, if you happen to ever read this .... Thank you for the contact ;)

I'll post more tomorrow .... Or later today as the nights have been going.

i like it, i love it

I want some more of it.

I walked what seemed like the whole effing city today. Starting out lower east side & chinatown, making my way up town to the park & FAO, Tiffany's, up broadway to 42nd to the S train back to grand central.

We had an awesome meal in little italy, then topped it off with some irish drinks at a very irish pub.

I am, to say the least, a little buzzed.

Tomorrow, we are going to the museum of sex. I couldn't resist. Then, out to 80's night at culture club. I can't effing wait.

Where else but NY can you get TWO, yes, TWO Prada bags and a coach clutch for 50 bucks? I love this town.

bags are packed

And waiting in limbo. When I spoke with her last night, she informed me her boss may be pulling the trip for her. Which in turns means pulling the trip from me as well.

She is in year end closing, and her boss is being manic.

So, all my clothes are clean and folded nicely in the suitcase waiting for her call tomorrow morning.

I reallllllly wanna goooooooo. I have even found some 80's clubs for us to dance at. If we don't get to go, we will be calling a cab and act like teenagers again.

btw -- this is one of my all time billy songs. If I get to go, we will be eating in little italy on mulberry street on Friday night.

Kimmy! I hope that you get to go. We, unfortunately, CAN'T go... and I hope that you see this before you leave. We just had company for 10 days and spent about 3 times more money than we should have. Plus, we ran ourselves ragged and need to rest before Sue's mom comes to visit NEXT weekend. (Trust me, it gets taxing) Please have a fabulous time and we will definitely meet next time... hopefully when you move there! So sorry!!

crash

see it ~~

It's the sense of touch. In any real city, you walk, you know? You brush past people, people bump into you. In L.A., nobody touches you. We're always behind this metal and glass. I think we miss that touch so much, that we crash into each other, just so we can feel something.

In The Deep ~~
Thought you had all the answers
to rest your heart upon
but something happens
don't see it coming, now
you can't stop yourself
now you're out there swimming
in the deep

Life keeps tumbling you heart in circles
till you let go
till you shed your pride and you climb to heaven
and you throw yourself off
now you're out there spinning in the deep

cosmo or manhattan?

How about a cosmo in Manhattan.

I did something a little rash. I emailed a Manhattan recruiter. Sent her my resume and will be interviewing with her while in NY. They have an assistants position open now, that I am sure I would get hired for. Right smack in the middle of Manhattan.

Marilee & Corie are not happy. But truth is, they are the only thing I have here. Things have not been going well at all, and I would love to live in NY.

Maybe Hannah will speak to me again. It's funny how that works.

I got divorce papers on Saturday. Name spelled wrong, marriage date wrong, Hannah's name spelled wrong. I am not sure which one is more stupid. Him or his lawyer.

He informed me that upon filing, the court will take mandatory child support. Uh, I don't think so mr. six figure income. He says she will "word it" so that it "reads" I am "foregoing" something. Uh, I don't think so.

So yeah, the six day headache? There are a couple of driving forces behind it.

A couple more days and I will be in NYC. Maybe even getting a new life.
