happy birthday, ranch style

Hannah wanted to go to my Dad's ranch for her birthday. Saturday, we took her to HB for lunch, gave her her present (driver's ed, which she was convinced she wasn't going to get) and she started balling. She had no idea and it was a lot of fun.

I was exhausted. Don't tell David Carr, but I really wanted to go home and sleep instead of going to the game. We ran into my friend Corie and her husband there, Larry ended up going to the game with Dwayne. It was his birthday on Saturday.

Corie came over to the house and we watched a bootleg of Mr & Mrs Smith (I do not support nor condone bootlegging of movies, but it did save us 24 bucks and I did not solicit it :)

Sunday we got up at 6am, Happy Birthday Hannah!! We get dressed, get Stephanie and head west. My dad & stepmom run a bed and breakfast in Fredericksburg, Texas. It's gorgeous there and I have been going since I was 10.

Daddy had saddled up the horses and took the girls on a ride, they saw lots of deer, petted Hank the donkey (I always think of the "pick me" scene from Shrek, he looks just like that donkey) stayed very still while a group of bee's flew by following their queen I imagine, scratched 'pork & beans' the pot belly pig that is so fat he can't see and saw a wild turkey. Cindy made chicken with bowtie pasta and squash ... Hannah blew out her candle in homemade peach cobbler made with fresh Stonewall peaches ..... it was great.

We had a wonderful visit and headed back home about five.

I then had my own little funeral for Six Feet Under. It was the best series finale I have ever seen. I am going to miss the Fishers. I taped the National Geographic 9/11 doc. I will watch it on Thursday when I am off, alone and safe.

Hannah banana is fifteen and will be driving in four weeks .... watch out Houston!
